How to Change the Default Administrator Password and Set Up User Accounts on ROS Devices (e.g., R1520)

Overview

The default administrator account credentials (admin/admin) provided on the device are clearly insecure. This document explains how to modify the admin password to ensure secure login and how to add user accounts.

What You Will Need

Hardware List:

1x Robustel R1520 Gateway

1x Ethernet Cable

1x Computer

Step-by-Step Configuration Guide

Step 1: Connect to the Gateway and Access the Web Configuration Interface

Use an Ethernet cable to connect the R1520 gateway to your computer. Open a browser and enter 192.168.0.1to access the web configuration interface.


Step 2: Change the Administrator Password

Navigate to System → User Management → Administrator Settings to change the password:


Step 3: Set Up a User Account

Go to [System] → [User Management] → [Common User Settings] to configure a user account (e.g., for user Tony):


Verification and Testing

On the main login interface, try logging in using both the admin credentials and the Tony user account credentials to verify successful access:

Q1: Why do I encounter an error when creating a user?

A1: Please refer to the help screenshot below. It is recommended to set a username that combines letters and numbers, such as tony123.
