Overview
During a firmware upgrade, unexpected power loss or file corruption can cause a router to become unresponsive. If your Robustel router (such as the R151x, R1520, R5020, or R2110 series) has a solid "Run" LED, won't boot normally, and the Reset button seems ineffective, the device has likely entered a failsafe bootloader state. This guide explains how to recover the device using the emergency Web-based firmware upgrade page.
What You'll Need
- Hardware List: * 1 x Affected Robustel Router (e.g., R1510, R1520, R5020, R2110).
- 1 x Ethernet Cable.
- 1 x PC with an Ethernet port.
- 1 x Power Supply for the router.
- Software/Firmware: * The correct
.bin firmware file for your specific model.
- Important Note: Do not power off the device during the recovery upload process, as this could lead to permanent hardware damage.
Step-by-Step Configuration Guide
Step 1: Physical Connection and Network Setup
To communicate with the bootloader, your PC must be on the same local network segment as the router's default recovery IP.
- Connect your PC directly to the LAN port of the router using an Ethernet cable.
- On your PC, manually configure the Static IP address of your Local Area Connection.
- Device Default Recovery IP:
192.168.0.1 - PC IP Address:
192.168.0.10 - Subnet Mask:
255.255.255.0
- Ensure your PC and the device are in the same IP subnet.
Step 2: Accessing the Recovery Interface
- Open a web browser (Chrome or Firefox recommended).
- Enter
192.168.0.1 into the address bar and press Enter. - The Web-based firmware upgrade page should appear. This is a simplified interface used specifically for emergency recovery.
Note: If the page does not load, try power-cycling the device while holding the Reset button for 5 seconds, then refresh the page.
Step 3: Uploading the Firmware
- On the recovery page, click Choose File or Browse.
- Select the valid
.bin firmware file you downloaded previously. - Click the Update or Upload button to start the process.
- Wait for the progress bar to complete. The device will automatically reboot once the installation is successful.

Verification & Testing
- LED Status: After the reboot, the "Run" LED should begin to blink normally (indicating the system is running) rather than staying solid.
- Web GUI Access: Change your PC's IP settings back to "Obtain an IP address automatically" (DHCP) or set it to match your previous working configuration. Attempt to log in to the standard Robustel Web GUI (usually
192.168.0.1). - Check Version: Navigate to Status -> System to verify that the firmware version matches the one you just uploaded.
Troubleshooting / FAQ
Q: I cannot access the recovery page at 192.168.0.1. What should I do?
A: Check your Ethernet cable and ensure your PC's static IP is definitely set to 192.168.0.10. Disable your Wi-Fi to ensure the PC isn't trying to route traffic through another gateway.
Q: The firmware upload failed or timed out.
A: Ensure you are using the correct firmware for your specific hardware model (e.g., do not try to flash R1520 firmware onto an R5020). Try a different web browser or a different Ethernet cable.
Q: The "Run" LED is still solid even after a "successful" upload.
A: The device may have a hardware fault. Please collect the serial number (S/N) of the device and contact Robustel Technical Support to check your warranty status.
