Alert Center collects device alerts and lets you define rules for conditions you want to monitor. A rule specifies the target device groups, severity and trigger conditions, helping you identify events that need attention across your devices.
Before you begin
Sign in to your RCMS Cloud company account with permission to manage alert rules.
Identify the device groups, reported parameters and thresholds you want to monitor. To organise devices, see Create a Device Group in RobustLink.
Create a rule
Open RobustLink, select Alert Center under Maintenance, and open Alert Rules.
Select Create Alert Rule. Enter an Alert Name, choose an Alert Level, and optionally enter a description.
Under Target Group, choose all device groups or select the groups to monitor. Select Next.
Select Select Trigger Parameter. Choose a Parameter Report, select the parameter to monitor and select Save in the parameter dialog.
For each selected parameter, choose the comparison and value under Trigger Value.
Choose whether an alert occurs when any condition is triggered or only when all conditions are triggered. Review the rule and select Save.
Set the alert name, level and target groups before defining its conditions.
Example: To identify devices using their first cellular link, choose the Active Link report and select Active_Link. Set the comparison to = and the value to WWAN1. Choose the target groups and alert level appropriate for your deployment.
Example alert condition for a device using WWAN1.
The Alert Level indicates the severity assigned to the alert. Target Group determines which device groups the rule monitors. With multiple trigger conditions, choose any to trigger an alert when one condition is met, or all when every condition must be met.
Review the rule and alerts
Find the rule under Alert Rules and select its name to review its settings. Open View Alerts to inspect recorded alerts, including their time, level and device.
To change a custom rule's information or conditions, disable it first. Review the revised settings before enabling it again.
