Create and Apply Device Tags in RobustLink

Create and Apply Device Tags in RobustLink

Device tags are labels that help you identify related devices in RobustLink. For example, you can label devices by site, project or purpose. This article shows how to create a tag and add it to a device.

Create a device tag

  1. Sign in to your RCMS company account and open RobustLink.
  2. In the left navigation, under Maintenance, select Device Tags, then select CREATE.
  3. Enter a Tag Name of up to 20 characters. For example, enter Site London to identify devices at a London site.
  4. Select SAVE. The tag appears in the Device Tags list.

Example: a tag name for a site.

Creating a tag does not automatically add it to devices. Assign the new tag or an existing tag using the steps below.

Add a tag to a device

  1. In RobustLink, under Devices, select Add/Remove Devices.
  2. Find the device and select the Edit icon in its Action column.
  3. In Device Tag, choose the tag. You can select up to five tags for a device.
  4. Select SAVE to apply the selection.

Example: selecting the Japan tag for an R1511 device.

In this separate example, Japan is an existing tag. To use the tag created above, select Site London instead. The form also shows the device name, series, area and operating system. Leave these settings unchanged unless you need to update them. Device Desc is an optional description of the device.

Check and manage tags

Return to Maintenance > Device Tags to see your tags. Device Count shows the number of devices associated with each tag. A count of 0 means no devices are currently associated with that tag.

Tags complement device groups: use groups to organise devices for management, and tags to label devices by characteristics such as their site or project. See Create a Device Group in RobustLink.
