Manage a Custom Role in RCMS

Manage a Custom Role in RCMS

A custom role determines which RCMS functions its assigned users can access. Update a role when a team's responsibilities change, or remove it when it is no longer needed. Changes to permissions affect all users assigned to the role, so review them before saving.

Before you begin: Sign in to the correct company account with permission to manage roles. Identify the custom role and review its assigned users. Your role must have higher authority than the role you want to manage.

Open the roles list

Open Account Settings > Roles. The list shows role names, role types and the available actions. Find the custom role you want to manage.

Roles page showing the existing roles and Action column
Open Roles to find the role and its available actions.

Edit a custom role

  1. Find the role and select its edit action in the Action column.
  2. Update the role information and select SAVE.
  3. Check the role in the list to confirm the change.

To change the functions available to the role, select its permissions action, select a module and update the applicable permissions. Select SAVE before moving to another module. For more about role types and permissions, see Create a Role and Set Permissions in RCMS.

Delete a custom role

  1. Check whether the role is assigned to any users. Reassign those users before deleting the role.
  2. In Roles, find the custom role and select its delete action in the Action column.
  3. Review the confirmation and confirm the deletion.
  4. Check that the role no longer appears in the list.

Built-in default roles cannot be edited or deleted. A role associated with a user cannot be deleted until that association is removed.
