Connect a RobustOS Router to RCMS Cloud

Connect a RobustOS Router to RCMS Cloud

Add one RobustOS router to RobustLink, enable its RCMS connection in the router's web interface, and check that it appears online in RCMS Cloud. The device-side example uses an R1510 running RobustOS 5.6.0. Menu names and settings can vary with the device and software version.

What is RobustLink?

RobustLink is the device management application in RCMS Cloud. It lets you monitor connected devices, organise them into groups and manage them remotely.

Important: Adding a device to the platform and connecting it are separate steps. A device can appear in the list before it is online. This procedure covers RobustOS; RobustOS Pro and non-RobustOS devices have different setup and feature support.

Before you begin

  • Sign in to the appropriate RCMS Cloud company account. If needed, see Create an RCMS Cloud Company Account.
  • Make sure the router has a stable Internet connection and you can sign in to its web interface.
  • Have the device serial number (SN), MAC address or IMEI, and a name for the device ready. Find the identifiers on the device label.

1. Add the device in RobustLink

  1. In RCMS Cloud, open RobustLink and select Add/Remove Devices.
  2. Select Add. Enter the device SN and at least one of MAC or IMEI. Enter a device name, select the device area and the correct device operating system, and complete the remaining required fields marked with an asterisk. Add a tag or description if needed.
  3. Select Save.
  4. Open View all Devices and search for the SN to check that the device has been added.

Example: register a RobustOS router named London Router in Europe. Enter the SN and MAC or IMEI shown on your own device label.

The SN and MAC in the example are illustrative; use the actual values from your device label. The SN must be unique and cannot already be registered in another RCMS instance. The Add form shows a 200 limit for the device description.

2. Enable RCMS on the router

Important: Enable RCMS on the device
RCMS is disabled by default when the device is shipped. Sign in to the device web interface and enable RCMS before the device can connect to RCMS Cloud.
  1. Connect your computer to the router and sign in to the router's web interface using its configured LAN address and credentials.
  2. Open Services > RCMS and set Enable RCMS and Enable RobustLink to ON.
  3. For the global RCMS Cloud production environment, select RCMS Cloud International under RCMS Environment.
  4. Select Submit, then Save & Apply to apply the configuration.

RCMS Cloud address and port

Global RCMS Cloud: The default server address is rcms-cloud.robustel.net and the default port is 443.

3. Verify the connection

Return to RobustLink, select View all Devices and search for the device SN. Check that the device status shows it is online. If the device is listed but offline, check that it has Internet access and that the RCMS settings were submitted and applied to the router.
