Copy, Edit and Export an Edge2Cloud Point Table

An Edge2Cloud point table stores the points and connection information used by a gateway. Copy a table as a starting point for another device, edit an existing table when its point definitions change, or export it for reference or reuse.

Before you begin: Sign in to the correct RCMS company, open RobustLink and check that you have access to Edge2Cloud. Use the connection and point details supplied for the connected device.

Copy a point table

  1. Open Edge2Cloud > Point Table Tool and find the table you want to use as a starting point.
  2. Select the copy action on the table card. RCMS opens a new table with the source table's point items and information.
  3. Give the copy a suitable name and review the point entries and information for the new device.
  4. Select SAVE, then check that the new table appears in the list.

Edit a point table

  1. Open the point table card to view its details.
  2. Select EDIT to change the table name, logo or description, then save your changes. The Southbound Protocol cannot be changed in this form.
  3. To change point entries, select Edit Point Table, update the values and select Save Point Table.
  4. Review the saved entries against the connected device's documentation.

The point table example below includes a temperature tag and Modbus connection and register fields. Replace the example values with the values for your own device.

Export a point table

  1. Open the point table's details page.
  2. Select Export Excel File for an Excel file or Export JSON File for a JSON file.
  3. Check the downloaded file in your browser's downloads.

Saving changes in RCMS and forwarding a point table to a gateway are separate actions. When the table is ready, see Forward an Edge2Cloud Point Table to a Gateway. To create a table, see Create an Edge2Cloud Point Table in RCMS.
