This guide is designed for new RCMS users who have purchased licenses and need to assign them to specific hardware. Many users assume licenses are automatically linked upon purchase; however, to ensure flexibility, RCMS requires a manual allocation step. This document explains how to move licenses from your "RCMS Assets" pool to your target gateways or routers.

Hardware: Any Robustel device currently connected to your RCMS account (e.g., R1510, R2000, EG5120, etc.).
Account Permissions: Administrator or Standard user rights on the RCMS platform.
License Assets: Valid, unallocated licenses (Essentials, Advanced, or Captive Portal PRO) available in your account.
Note: Do not delete the device from RCMS before checking the license status, as this may complicate the recovery of allocated assets.

Log in to your RCMS platform account.
In the top navigation bar, click on "Account".
From the left-hand side menu, select "RCMS Assets". You will see a list of all purchased license types and their remaining quantities.
Identify the specific license type you wish to assign (e.g., RCMS Advanced License).
Click the [ALLOCATE] button located on the right side of that license entry.
A pop-up window will appear displaying your device list.
Search for your target devices using their Serial Number (SN), Device Name, or Model.
Check the boxes next to the devices you want to license.
Click the [ALLOCATE] button at the bottom of the pop-up window to confirm the action.

How to Verify: Once the allocation is complete, navigate to the "Devices" tab in the main RCMS dashboard. Locate your device and check the "License Type" or "Expiry Date" column.
Success Indicator: The license status should now reflect the newly assigned tier (e.g., "Advanced") and show an updated expiration date.

Supported Types: Only Essentials, Advanced, and Captive Portal PRO licenses can be manually allocated via this method.
Effective Date: Licenses become active immediately upon allocation and are valid for 30 days (per unit).
License Upgrading: If you assign a higher-tier license to a device with a lower-tier one, it upgrades instantly. After the premium license expires, the device reverts to its previous level.
License Extension: Assigning a license of the same tier to an already licensed device will extend its validity by an additional 30 days.
Downgrade Restrictions: You cannot directly assign a lower-tier license to a device currently holding a higher-tier one. To downgrade, you must disable "Auto-renewal" and wait for the current license to expire.

Q: Why can't I see my device in the allocation list?
A: Ensure the device is already registered to your RCMS account. If it belongs to a different "Company" or "Sub-account," you must switch to that account first.
Q: Can I un-allocate a license once it is assigned?
A: Generally, once a license is activated/allocated to a specific SN, it is consumed for that period. Contact support if an error was made during the SN selection.
Manually allocating licenses ensures you have full control over which devices receive premium features. By following these steps, your Robustel gateways will be fully optimized for remote management.
