Review and Update an Alert Rule in RobustLink

Review and Update an Alert Rule in RobustLink

An alert rule defines which device groups and reported conditions RCMS monitors. Review a rule to check its scope and conditions, temporarily disable it while making changes, and enable it again when the updated settings are ready.

Before you begin: Sign in to the correct RCMS company account with permission to manage alert rules. Identify the custom rule and the device groups affected.

Review a rule

  1. In RobustLink, open Alert Center under Maintenance, then select Alert Rules.
  2. Find the rule and select its underlined name to open its settings.
  3. Review the alert level, target groups and conditions. For example, check which groups a connectivity rule monitors before changing its trigger.

Disable or enable a rule

  1. In Alert Rules, find the custom rule.
  2. Use the switch in Display Status to disable or enable it.
  3. Check the displayed status after the change.

System-created alerts are enabled by default and their status cannot be changed. Consider the monitoring impact before disabling a rule.

Edit a custom rule

  1. Disable the rule using its Display Status switch.
  2. To update its name, level, description or associated groups, select the edit icon for its basic information and make the required changes.
  3. To update monitored parameters, thresholds or conditions, select the gear icon for the rule conditions and make the changes.
  4. Save the changes, select the rule name to review its settings, and enable it again when it is ready.

The example below shows an alert condition for an active cellular link. When changing a condition, choose the parameter and value that match the event you need to monitor.
