How to Access the Web Management Interface(ROS)

How to Access the Web Management Interface(ROS)

Overview

This document provides step-by-step instructions for accessing the Robustel gateway's Web Management Interface. This interface is the primary tool for configuring and monitoring all gateway settings. Access is achieved by physically connecting a computer to the gateway via an Ethernet cable and using a web browser.

What You Will Need

Hardware/Software Prerequisites

  • 1x Robustel Gateway Device
  • 1x Computer (Laptop or Desktop)
  • 1x Standard Ethernet Cable
  • A Modern Web Browser (e.g., Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Microsoft Edge)
  • Note: No internet connection is required for the initial access.

Step-by-Step Configuration Guide

Step 1: Establish Physical Connection

  1. Take one end of the Ethernet cable and plug it into an available ETH port on the Robustel gateway.
  2. Take the other end of the cable and plug it into the Ethernet port on your computer.

Step 2: Configure Computer Network Settings (If Necessary)

  • In most cases, your computer should be set to obtain an IP address automatically (via DHCP), which is the default setting. The gateway will assign an IP address to your computer.
  • If automatic configuration fails, you may need to manually set a static IP address on your computer (e.g., 192.168.0.10) within the 192.168.0.xsubnet (where x is between 2 and 254), with a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0.

Step 3: Access the Login Page via Web Browser

  1. Open your web browser (e.g., Chrome).
  2. Click on the address bar at the top of the browser window.
  3. Carefully enter the gateway's default IP address: http://192.168.0.1 and press Enter.

You will now see the Robustel Web Management Interface login page, as shown in the screenshot below.

Step 4: Log In to the Interface

On the login page, perform the following steps to gain access:

  1. Username: The field is typically pre-populated with admin. If it is empty, type admin.
  2. Password: Enter the password for the administrator account. (Refer to your device's documentation for the default password; for security reasons, it is not shown in the image).
  3. Language: Select your preferred language from the dropdown menu (e.g., English).
  4. Click the green LOGIN button.

Verification and Testing

A successful login is confirmed by:

  • The browser redirecting you from the login page to the main dashboard or status overview page of the Web Management Interface.
  • The presence of a configuration menu (typically on the left side of the screen) providing access to various settings (Interface, System, etc.).

Troubleshooting/ FAQ

Q1: After entering the IP address, the browser says "This site can’t be reached" or "Unable to connect". What's wrong?

A1: Please check the following:

  • Physical Connection: Ensure the Ethernet cable is firmly plugged into both the gateway and your computer. Check if the LAN port lights on the gateway are on/blinking.
  • IP Address: Verify that you entered the correct IP address (http://192.168.0.1) in the browser's address bar, not the search bar.
  • Firewall/Antivirus: Temporarily disable your computer's firewall or antivirus software to see if it is blocking the connection.
  • Static IP: Confirm your computer's network adapter is set to obtain an IP address automatically (DHCP), or that the manually set IP is correct.

Q2: I forgot the login password. How can I recover access?

A2: If you have changed the default password and forgotten it, you will need to perform a factory reset on the gateway. Warning: This will erase all custom configurations. Please refer to the separate "How to reset device to factory defaults?" document for instructions.
