Zero Touch helps you deploy firmware, apps and device configuration remotely from RCMS Cloud. It is useful when you need to prepare or update one device or a fleet of devices consistently without configuring each device separately.
First, create a template for a device series and add the firmware, apps or XML configuration you want to use. You can include one or more of these components in the same template.
Then apply the template to selected devices and choose when to update them. If individual devices need different configuration values, you can supply per-device parameters during the application process. Check Update History to see the outcome.
For example, you can prepare one configuration for a group of R151x devices, then apply it to the selected devices from RCMS. Creating a template prepares the changes; devices are updated only when the template is applied.
In this example, DeviceOS is RobustOS, Device Series is R151x Series, and Device Firmware is r151x-firmware-5.6.0.ruf. These fields identify the target devices and firmware package. Device Apps and Device Configuration can be left empty for a firmware-only template. The optional Logo helps identify the template, and Description records its purpose.
Find the saved template on the Create Template tab. To deploy it, follow Apply a Zero Touch Template to Devices. Review the target devices and update timing before applying. The template is applied when a device is online; check Update History for the outcome.
To change the firmware, apps, or configuration in an existing template, open it and select Copy as New. Edit the copy and save it as a new template. See Copy and Update a Zero Touch Template for the steps.
