A captive portal presents a welcome page to people who connect to a Wi-Fi network before they can access the internet. You can use Portal Manager in RCMS to configure the page and manage the portal settings for your devices.
How it works

RCMS Portal Manager lets an administrator create portal templates and manage settings for the devices. The device needs a connection to RCMS to receive updates.
For example, a transport operator can present a welcome page and terms to passengers before they use onboard Wi-Fi. The operator can manage the portal content and review usage in RCMS.
What you need
- A compatible Robustel device with Wi-Fi support and an internet connection.
- The RCMS Portal App installed on the device and the device configured to provide a Wi-Fi access point.
- RCMS enabled on the device and the device connected to your RCMS company account.
- A Captive Portal PRO licence for each device that will run the service.
- An RCMS user account with access to the devices and Portal Manager.
Before you start: Obtain the required Captive Portal PRO licences and
allocate one to each device. Check your device's App and firmware compatibility before installation.
Set up and manage the portal
- Prepare the device. Install the necessary Apps, enable RCMS and the portal service, configure Wi-Fi in access point mode, and apply the settings.
- Connect the device to RCMS. Add the device to your company account and allocate its licence.
- Create and deploy a portal. Use Create a Passenger WiFi Portal Template in RCMS to configure the page and select devices. Use Update a Passenger WiFi Portal Template in RCMS to send changes to devices.
- Manage and review usage. Configure session limits and portal languages, then review clients and session history or portal statistics.
